Well, "THE BLOG MAGES 2008" will close for a while from tomorrow. But I think it will open again when the live concert gets near. Please listen to the album again and again, and remember each music until you come to the concert!

Hello, this is Matsushita from Dog Ear Records.
Tomorrow, on March 19th, we finally release "THE BLACK MAGES III -Darkness and Starlight-".
It was in February 2003 when we released the first album of THE BLACK MAGES, so more than 5 years had passed already. The background of each member had changed, and after 3years and 3month from the second album, finally, we present you this 3rd album tomorrow.
The musical essence of this album is not "casual" music more than the 1st & 2nd album. The members around 40 years old had recorded with uncompromising stance, and the fertility of their music elements is wonderful. The style of listening music will change with times, but the musical essence which will be loved by people does not change with times and be swayed. Dog Ear Records are proud to present you the album which music are unswayed by fashion or times.
In conclusion, we would like to thank to SQUARE ENIX, to understanding our production and to giving us their trust. And the memory of sending the "LIFE -the last song of this album-" to KEITEN comes back to me now again.
I really hope that this "Darkness and Starlight" will be an important album in your life.

Hello, this is Hanyuda. There's only 2 days left until the release date!
"Darkness and Starlight", the album which we finished with getting over a lot of difficulty became our memorial album. We have a special fondness for it. We ran through the schedules with excitement from the beginning to the end.
When I think back about the schedules, it was really amazing that we were able to finish it. But during the recordings, we weren't worrying about it. I wonder why we had a sense of reassurance.
When I once was asked about the collaboration of the band and the orchestra for the "One Winged Angel", I didn't believe that we could do such a difficult thing. But after we concerted our efforts for the project, we were able to realize it. And that experience built my self-confidence. TBM had extremely changed after that experience.
I think you can find it in our sounds, too. Please get the CD! It is the happiest thing if you could find and feel it from our 3rd album.

This time, I will write a short diary about the process of "Grand Cross" arrangement.
Dec.28th
Started the programming of "Grand Cross". Only the basic part, Drums and synth bass.
Jan,1st
Happy New Year!
Jan.2nd
Went to "Strawberry picking" in Shizuoka prefecture. During the return rush, I thought that unison phrase of real electric-bass & guitar will be better than the synth bass.
Jan.3rd
Forgot the positive image of the idea which I got yesterday. So, I started programming the synth bass. But, in midnight, I changed my mind again, and changed it to "real bass & guitar". I also started programming the keyboards.
Jan.4th
Recorded the bass guitar for the demo. And I also tried recording the guitar by myself. But I was depressed every time I listened to the recorded guitars.
Jan.5th
Continued my work. Searching for an idea for the Ending part. I put the simple Ending that time.
Jan.7th
I got the idea for the ending part, which image is like" nightmare". And I finished making the Rough-version of the arrangement.
Jan.9th
Sent the demo to Uematsu-san.
Jan.10th
Got a several advice from Uematsu-san.
Jan.17th
One week had passed working for the other works. But, the idea of the intro with Guitar and Bass came to me. Satisfied and slept well.
Jan.18th
Used the idea which came to me yesterday. Added the "Hell voice" in the introduction, and finished arrangement!
Then, I fixed the detail part and brushed up the sound. After adding the recording sounds of the members, the Grand Cross had finally finished its arrangement. The music got the Groove by each member's live recordings, and got much more better than my Demo sounds. I hope you have fun listening to it!

There's only a few days until the releasing date of "Darkness and Starlight"! Thanks to all of you, there is a lot of pre-order in each record shop. We're very thankful already to your positive expectations to the album.
Today, I will write about what I felt from the TBM recordings. We usually work as corporate employees like video-game composer, publicity job, sales rep and instructor. So, having a chance to meet at the studio twice a month in our busy days is really a big fun. So, we couldn't see any tiredness between each other in this recordings.
When we started the recordings, we will concentrate and get serious, but having fun at the same time. When there's a time to rest or eating dinner, we didn't talk only about musical things. We talked about many stupid things, and sometimes we played the PS3 and Wii together. It was like a school trip! How old are we??!
We are a good friends, and that's why we do not hesitate to ask or request something to each other. We requested a different phrase if someone felt that it's not the right phrase, and keep doing a discussion without being cross. Yes, they are really a wonderful pal.
I hope you have fun listening to the sounds which we created with both getting serious and also having fun. And I wish there is your favorite song in this album. ;->
