Today is the release date of our 3rd album "Darkness and Starlight". Did you listen to it already? It is the album which we worked wholeheartedly on. So, I'm glad if you enjoyed listening to it. I love the demo of "Distant Worlds", I never imagined that you make that song TBM version!!! The Black Mages is hands down my favourite band. I'd love if you guys can come to Australia (and preferably Sydney, where I currently stay). We have a marvelous Eminence Symphony Orchestra here, which performs various video game music and had brought many composers directly from Japan (And Nobuo-san, I'm sure you remembered that you were the special guest in 2003. Unfortunately you were not present in 2007 when seven other great composers were there, including Mr. Mitsuda and Mrs. Shimomura). We Australians are looking forward to concerts from The Black Mages here, so please delight us with your spectacular live show! =)

After a long wait, it's time for "Final Fantasy Rock!"
Finally also in Italy we have passed the midnight, and I'm sure that a lot of Final Fantasy fans of my country at the moment are looking forward to listen this new masterpiece by The Black Mages. I really hope that this new album could astonish us just like the previous ones and why not... more then the others! I'm sure that Mr.Uematsu will decide, after the wonderful concerts in Firenze, to come back in Italy to present us this time a "The Black Mages" show!

But for the next album, could you guys please put in a Advent Children Arangment of One Wing Angel? That would be totally sweet! Also, do you think the Black Mages could do rock arangments of other video game music? Such as Kingdom Hearts because of all the included Final Fantasy characters and a few music pieces from the game were from Final Fantasy Games? That would be very interesting. As always THE BLACK MAGES did a great job !!! Now I understand why the band said that it was a very self-confident work. It seems that the album is composed of many last battle theme from Final Fantasy games, I wish he had more varied tracks...(ah love those guitar solos !!!) by the way i think it's darker than light. ^^

I shall not dwell on any music, because my English is not sufficiently developed to express my feelings, but I would like to say a word about this music. LIFE ~ In memory of KEITEN ~ which is absolutely sumptuous and schemes. It is recognized is the genius of Mr. Uematsu.

I've listened to all of the music, and yes they're all so great I couldn't single out the best! Darkness and Starlight is especially Godly. LIFE ~ in memory of KEITEN ~ is an excellent short piece, although I expected it to be 3-4 minutes. Nevertheless, I'm really satisfied.
My friend actually suggested the arrangement of "The Legendary Beast" from Final Fantasy VIII. It had the theme of FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC, so perhaps an arrangement of that theme would be great.

I've just listened through the album a few times at work and finally got it home to start working out the guitar parts!
So far I'm really loving Premonition and Distant Worlds. The whole album is fantastic however - I need to really get a good listen though.

Absolutely amazing album my fave song has got to be assault of the silver dragons,it was one of my favorite songs from final fantasy just that scene in final fantasy 9 is really made by that song. but all the songs are amazing, i also thought it was an amazing gesgure to put life on the album im sure Yoshitaka would be so happy with it! after hearing assault of the silver dragons ive actually started playing through final fantasy 9 again :)

In this album there are simply the best arrangements than ever...i already loved FFIX Final Battle, but you succeded in transforming it in a real masterpiece!! compliments! I hoped in a better adaptation of The Opera and Opening-Bombing mission, but the rest of the tracks are incredible!

I've been a fan of your music for quite a while now, and was excited about the release of your new album. Now that I've listened to it, I feel like I need to compliment you on this impressive work of yours.
Technically, this album is far superior to your last efforts, with complex drum lines, fantastic guitars and one-of-a-kind keyboards that would make Keith Emerson jealous. Technically, this album is far superior to your last efforts, with complex drum lines, fantastic guitars and one-of-a-kind keyboards that would make Keith Emerson jealous. A million thanks for the 3rd TBM record, it really is magnificent! Now I finally have them all (I bought your last two albums years ago) but it took so long to get, because it was Easter in the weekend. ^^'
But hey, keep these great albums coming, they are so good. And next time, please even more of Sekito-san and Okamiya-san's guitars! :) They kinda were in the background this time.
And again, as usual, the tracks from Final Fantasy VIII (my favourite game in the world) were the best of the CD. Great!

New album is really good. I especially "Neo EXDEATH" and "Assault of the Silver Dragons". Chorus in the "Darkness and Starlight" is awesome.
And for the end one propositon. Maybe on the next album You can compose some original tracks? I really like arrangaments but my favorite track form all of yours tracks is "Winning the Rainbow".

I'm a huge fan of your work, Uematsu-San!
If I had any hopes for the fourth album it would be more guitar and less synthesizer. Many of the melodies in your work would sound amazing if played by the two lead guitars or the bass guitar. Because synth is used so much in the original video game compositions, I don't think it needs to be so prominent.
My favourite two songs by the Black Mages are "Matoya's Cave" and "Maybe I'm a Lion." In "Matoya's Cave", the guitar sings so beautifully. In "Maybe I'm A Lion," it is really rocking! I would love to hear more of that.

yes, i agree with you, I noticed that they have dedicated a lot of spaces to keyboard parts, still giutar solos are not missing at all, plus organ parts are really incredible....i love organ in rock compositions!!!!! XD

The album is awesome, the best wthout a doubt. I don't have just one favorite, all of your three albums are perfects to me, all my favorites. Maybe a little less of the synthesizer and all would be even best.
Darkness and Starlight is incredible but, something that I really don't like was the narrator, I'm so into the music but, at the moment the narrator talks, I lose the magic of the song. I like it but, without the narrator, the song would be even more perfect. Anyway, I can't wait until your next album. I love this one! The best.

Hello there TBM, I've just been browsing through some of my FF music collections and I found that The Decisive Battle from FFV sounds nice. It's the track before Neo EXDEATH.
BTW, The Legendary Beast from FFVIII, I don't think you will arrange that piece will you? The same theme has been used in your arrangement of The Man with the Machine Gun T_T I just realised!

This is irrelevant to your albums, but I like how the English subtitles are included in the videos when you introduce the third albums. May I ask if you are ever to release DVDs of upcoming concerts, please include the subtitles so people who don't understand Japanese can also enjoy the commentary?

this is my favorite album yet my favorite song on this album is premonition I love the dark beats by the way I have a great idea for if you do Liberi Fatali you should combine it with Succesion Of The Witches and Fitos Lusec Wecos Vinosec just a thought also I think the Castle from FFVIII is a good idea but dude I am addicted to The Black Mages ever since I heard J-E-N-O-V-A you guys have been my favorite band and I love your compositions for the FF series I am looking forward to many great songs
